Dr. Ruth Oniang’o, founder of Rural Outreach Africa (ROA) in 1993, is a highly respected figure in the field of food security, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture. With over four decades of experience, she has made significant contributions to research, policy development, and advocacy in Africa and around the world.

She holds a Ph.D. in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Nairobi and has dedicated her career to improving the lives of communities through her work in agriculture and nutrition. Dr. Oniang’o received the prestigious Africa Food Prize in 2017 for her impactful work in grassroots food security and poverty reduction.

As a member of Kenya’s ninth parliament, she advocated for policies to enhance food security, nutrition, and technological advancement. She has been a strong advocate for sustainable agricultural practices that promote food security while safeguarding the environment. Her efforts to combat malnutrition have been instrumental in shaping national and international policies.
