Grow Further is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing bold agricultural research that improves nutrition, strengthens climate resilience, and increases incomes for smallholder farmers. We fund forward-looking science that responds directly to the challenges faced by farmers in low- and middle-income countries.
We are pleased to announce that Expressions of Interest are now open for agricultural research projects in India that align with these goals. Selected projects may receive between $10,000 and $100,000 per year for a period of two to five years.
Who Can Apply
We invite submissions from legally registered Indian organizations with the capacity to conduct field-based agricultural science. Eligible institutions include:
- Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) (An MoU with Grow Further is under negotiation and expected to be in place when grants are awarded)
- Universities
- India-based campuses of CGIAR and AIRCA centers
- Nonprofit organizations with research capacity and the ability to receive funds from U.S.-based entities (e.g., FCRA registration)
Focus Areas
Proposals should advance at least one of Grow Further’s core priorities:
- Nutrition: Improve nutritional outcomes through biofortification or the production of nutrient-rich crops, vegetables, legumes, fruits, or fish.
- Climate Resilience: Develop solutions for drought, pests, salinity, and other climate challenges, or support smallholders farming in marginal environments.
- Farm Income: Increase farmer incomes through innovations that enhance value, quality, or reduce production costs.
What We Fund
We support research on domesticated species essential to food and nutrition security:
- Crops: Cereals, legumes, roots and tubers, fruits, nuts, vegetables, forage crops, edible mushrooms, and more
- Livestock: Animals raised for meat, milk, or eggs, including aquatic species
- Supportive species: Such as bees, cover crops, and draft animals
We welcome proposals across a broad range of disciplines, including:
Agronomy, crop and soil science, plant protection, animal science, veterinary medicine, agricultural engineering, and ICT in agriculture.
